Back up and running!

We are pleased to say that our first guests, since lockdown, arrived last week, so we did our first Covid clean yesterday.  All went well and we are now ready to welcome our next guests on Saturday 1 August.  We are fully booked until the end of October which is great news for us and we look forward to sharing the Peak District with our guests once again.

The popular spots in the Peak District are extremely busy at the moment, particularly at weekends.  However, it’s surprising how quickly you can get away from the crowds by choosing to visit places that are off the beaten track.  There are lots of suggestions in the cottage for places to visit and we are always on hand to help and advise guests on the quieter places to go.  You can access many lovely quiet footpaths from the door of Tub Cottage, particularly if you know which way to head, and we are happy to point you in the right direction!

The Lammergeier (bearded vulture) which has recently appeared in the Peak District is currently drawing the crowds, although the RSPB are encouraging people to keep their distance from its nesting site.  There was a sighting of it in Cressbrook Dale, which is very near to Litton, so we are keeping our eyes to the skies just in case it decides to visit again.

The Red Lion pub in the village is fully open and has tables inside and outside (in a marquee).  It is very busy, so advisable to book if you want to eat there.  You don’t need to book if you are just having a drink.  All customers need to sign in as part of the track and trace process.  There is also a new pub opened called the Blind Bull in Little Hucklow which is not far from Litton.  It has a lovely beer garden and also serves meals.  It has good reviews so well worth checking out.

We look forward to welcoming you to Tub Cottage in the near future.  Fingers crossed that the sun arrives in Litton soon!

Keep safe.
