Lockdown 2 Update November 2020

Once again Tub Cottage is closed to guests due to the second Covid lockdown. This time it feels very different, with the village as busy as ever with day visitors, walkers and cyclists. The Red Lion is open for takeaways – Wednesday pie night, Friday curry night and Sunday roast lunches. We are treating ourselves to our favourite steak and ale pie this Wednesday, with all the trimmings including chips! We are looking forward to seeing the doors of the pub open again soon, fingers crossed. Litton shop and Post Office continue to be open and run by wonderful volunteers, providing essential provisions for those who are self-isolating or who do not wish to travel for their shopping. We are very fortunate to have this in the village.

Christmas in Litton is usually a very special time and although this year will be different, we are looking forward to the Methodist Church unveiling its new nativity with wooden figures and stable on Sunday 6th December, with the necessary social distancing in place. On the evening of Tuesday 22 December we are hoping to play Christmas hymns over loud speakers so that the village can listen and join in the festivities from the comfort of their own homes/garden gates. The village will be adorned with sparkling lights and all households have been asked to put a star in the window.

We are pleased to inform guests that we have now installed a new television at Tub Cottage. Following several comments about the size of screen and picture quality we have upgraded to a 43″ smart TV. Whilst being able to watch all the available Freeview channels in glorious HD, guests have easy access to Netflix, Amazon Prime (if you have accounts), YouTube, etc., as well as all the catch-up services from the major channels. We hope that this will enhance our guests’ experience, particularly during the dark Winter months when a cosy night in with a good film and a glass of wine is the ultimate in rest and relaxation!

We have also upgraded some of the electric sockets to now include USB points for easy charging of phones, laptops etc. We have located these in the kitchen and in the main bedroom next to the bedside cabinets (for those who don’t like to be parted from their devices for long!).

We look forward to opening our doors once again and welcoming our guests for this year’s Christmas and New Year holidays. Let’s hope that 2021 is a healthy and happy year for us all, and that we can begin to return to some normality and enjoy the simple things in life again.

Our best wishes to you all, Leonie, Eric and May
