Plans to re-open and a new gas stove fitted

New gas stove fitted March 2021

Well, Spring has arrived in Litton at last. The daffodils are out on the greens, the lambs are out in the fields and the curlews are calling over the tops. The weather is forecast to be warm today, which is unusual for the Peak District at this time of year!

We are also preparing to welcome our first guests back to Tub Cottage on Monday 12th April. We have also had a new gas stove fitted this week (see photo) and are really pleased with it! Our lovely Much Wenlock gas stove had to be replaced as it was over 20 years old and didn’t comply with current safety standards. We have also taken the opportunity to re-model the fireplace at the same time, removing the modern stonework and exposing the original fireplace opening.

The village and surrounding area is slowly starting to move out of lockdown with pubs and cafes opening for outside service from 12 April. The Red Lion pub in the village will continue to provide takeaway meals on Wednesdays and Sundays, however, it will not open for outside service until the 30th April and is planning to open at weekends only until the middle of May. Most of the pubs and cafes in Tideswell are planning to open from 12 April and, of course, our village shop is open every day and sells a lovely selection of ice cream, cake and hot drinks to take away or sit outside on the green.

Wishing you all a wonderful Spring and let’s hope we can start getting back to some normality in the next few weeks and months. As always we look forward to welcoming you to Tub Cottage and our lovely village.

Warm regards to you all, Leonie, Eric and May
