Summer 2021

Well, we are now well into the Summer season and it has been so lovely to welcome back our regular guests and also welcome new ones.  The weather has been mixed, however, the colours in the gardens and in the fields more than make up for a wet day in the Peak District.

We are now fully booked until November and already booked for Christmas and New Year 2021.  A trickling of bookings is also coming in for 2022.

The Red Lion pub in the village is very busy at the moment, both inside and outside.  Bookings are recommended if you wish to eat there – the Steak and Ale Pie and chips is a big favourite for many!

Litton managed to have a well dressing this year, made possible by a team of hard working volunteers who gave up their time to create a wonderful and colourful picture.  All was possible by socially distancing during its preparation.  Whilst we couldn’t have the usual blessing and Wakes festivities, it was lovely to have visitors to the village to see the well dressing, have a coffee and cake at the shop and try out a few beers at the pub!  It made the village come alive again after such a difficult time for us all.

We are expecting a busy few weeks in the Peak District during the school Summer holidays.  We have seen an increase in visitors during the pandemic and the roads are very busy, particularly in the hot spots such as Bakewell, Dovedale and Castleton.  Maybe best to avoid these places at weekends and enjoy them on a weekday when they are a bit quieter!

September is a lovely time to visit the Peak District when schools are back and many places are a lot less busy, hence why weeks during that month seem to get booked up well in advance, so if you fancy a week in September, I suggest you book sooner rather than later!

As always we look forward to welcoming you to Tub Cottage and the village of Litton.  Hope to see you soon!
