Summer 2018

Welcome to my Summer 2018 Blog!

The weather in Litton has been glorious! Sun everywhere! Very unusual for this part of the Peak District, so we have been very lucky.

Sadly one of our Buff Orpington fluffy chickens, Orzo, passed away last week.  We are not sure why as she was up and about in the morning, but unfortunately it is quite common for chickens to deteriorate very quickly, so there was nothing we could do.  We still have 5 other chickens and 3 ducks, so guests are still welcome to visit them.  We are hoping to get some more chickens soon, so will write another blog when we do.

I recently did my work experience at an animal park called Mayfield Alpacas which is not far from Tub Cottage and it is definitely worth a visit.   They have meerkats, alpacas and many, many other amazing animals.

Hathersage Outdoor Swimming Pool is also a great place to visit, particularly in this lovely  weather, although it can get very busy during the school holidays.

We recently cycled to Hassop Station early evening for a pizza which was delicious.  The journey there was mainly downhill, however, cycling back to Litton was a little uphill but well worth it.

I have started working at the Red Lion as a pot washer, normally on a Friday evening, so if you eat at the Red Lion during your stay, please say hello to me in the kitchen.   We would recommend booking as it can get very busy but the food is great, particularly the steak and ale pie!!

We hope to see you soon at Tub Cottage.  Bookings are now being taken for 2019 and a few weeks have already been booked.

Me and Orzo.
